Communication
Coaches will communicate directly through Playmetrics using the Chat or Inbox features.
We encourage all communication to go directly through Playmetrics. Please allow reasonable time for responses. Remember our coaches are volunteers!
Questions should first be directed to your child’s coach. If additional assistance is needed, club board members are available to help.
Contact registrar@genevalakeunited.org to get directed to a board member.

Practices & Games
Each team will have 2 weekly practices. Practice schedules will be set by the coaches.
There will be approximately 16 games (8 in the fall & 8 in the spring). These games are primarily on Saturdays but there could also be Sunday games. Teams will travel to games.
There will also be one tournament scheduled for U8-U14 during the fall season.
All practices and games will be posted via Playmetrics. We recommend downloading the app to stay up to date with practices and games.
The safety of players is our top priority. If weather conditions make play unsafe, games or practices may be canceled or postponed. Families will be notified as soon as possible. Referees monitor weather and ultimately make the call if games should be cancelled. Rescheduled games will be posted in Playmetrics.
Enrollment is for Fall and Spring. The fall season will run from late August to the end of October. The spring season will run from late March/early April – June.
Practices and home games are located at Duck Pond Recreation Area unless otherwise specified.

Registration & Fees
We believe every child should have the opportunity to play soccer. We offer payment plans during registration. Families needing financial assistance are encouraged to contact the club to discuss available options.
Registration is completed online through our Playmetrics. Registration dates and links will be posted on our website and social media pages before each season.
Registration fees help cover league fees, field maintenance, equipment, insurance, referee costs, and other club operating expenses. One tournament is also included in the registration fee for 8U-15U.
Rules & Playing Time
The club encourages coaches to provide all players with meaningful playing time and opportunities to develop their skills throughout the season. Coaches strive to ensure fair and balanced playing time for all players; however, playing time may be reduced if a player has missed a significant number of practices.
Soccer is played between two teams with the objective of scoring goals by moving the ball into the opposing team’s net. Players may not use their hands, except for the goalkeeper within the penalty area.
A build out lineis a marker used in U9 and U10 that is drawn halfway between the midfield line and the penalty box. It promotes player development by giving young players the time and space to safely pass the ball out from the defensive third without heavy pressure.

Offsides is a rule that helps keep the game fair. A player is considered offside if they are closer to the opponent’s goal than the second-to-last defender when a teammate passes them the ball. In simple terms, players cannot stay near the other team’s goal waiting for a pass. The rule encourages teamwork, passing, and strategic play rather than “goal hanging” near the net.

Teams & Player Placement
Our recreational soccer program is open to players of all skill levels, and no tryouts are required.
Tryouts are posted when there are any select team opportunities.
Requests to play in a different age group will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may depend on roster availability and player development considerations.
If you need to request an exemption for a player, please email registrar@genevalakeunited.org
Friend and coach requests may be submitted during registration. While we do our best to accommodate requests, we cannot guarantee all requests can be honored.
Teams are generally formed by age group and registration numbers. The club strives to create balanced teams while considering coach availability and roster sizes.
Players should register based on their birth year according to the age group guidelines provided by WYSA. See our current age level charts here: Age Levels
